The Eson 2 CPAP nasal mask is an updated version of one of the most popular nasal CPAP masks on the market Designed by Fisher & Paykel, this nasal mask was created to meet the needs of Sleep Apnea patients and sleep specialists.
Released in 2017, the New Zealand based CPAP mask manufacturer wanted to reiterate and enhance upon their original Eson mask design with the aim of providing users with a nasal mask that is comfortable, lightweight and slimmer than ever before.
The main features of the Eson 2 CPAP mask include an updated RollFit seal cushion, improved headgear design, VisiBlue highlights and a reusable diffuser. Let’s look at these features in more detail below.
One of the most iconic features of the original Eson nasal mask is the use of RollFit seal technology and this technology has only been improved upon in the Eson 2 model.
The RollFit seal cushion was designed to improve a user’s comfort levels and confidence when wearing the mask. The cushion easily glides over the bridge of the nose to reduce pressure as the patient moves during sleep while also providing a strong seal. The Fisher & Paykel Eson 2 improved on this technology to create a slimmer seal that is compatible with various face shapes, provides a reliable, and prevents mask leaks and skin irritation.
The headgear of the Eson 2 CPAP nasal mask was redesigned for improved usability and fitting. Boasting an open-view mask frame that covers less surface and more durable headgear, many CPAP users will notice the benefits of this intuitive headgear design.
In the newest iteration, Fisher and Paykel have improved clip ergonomics to make sure the mask is easier to put on and take off. Its full-motion elbow has the ability to rotate 360 degrees and the headgear also features upgraded and newly designed velcro straps that ensure the mask will be long-lasting. Due to the comfort and sleek design, this nasal CPAP mask suits all types of sleepers - even the most active ones.
For Fisher and Paykel, improved patient orientation is very important and that is why the Eson 2 CPAP mask was created with VisiBlue highlights. This feature provides users with a blue top strap as part of the mask design to provide visual cues that provide a simplified way for users to fit, disassemble and reassemble the mask.
Finally, similarly to the original Eson mask, the Eson 2 features a diffuser on the top of the mask elbow. However, after listening to the feedback of CPAP users and coupling with innovative design concepts, this new and improved diffuser is now made of eco-friendly and reusable material.
This diffuser is designed to reduce noise and improve quietness by dispersing air away from the mask. Something both you and your partner will surely appreciate.
While this Fisher & Paykel CPAP mask certainly sounds impressive on paper, here at CPAPMachines.ca our team prefers to put masks to the test before recommending to our customers.
It is clear to see that the aim of this nasal CPAP mask was to build upon the success of the Eson mask while also improving patient comfort and we believe that has been achieved to some respect. The intuitive RollFit seal cushion technology along with the stretchy, slim headgear does improve ease of use and comfort according to our team, especially when compared to the original Eson mask.
Additionally, the upgraded eco-friendly diffuser was a nice extra bonus and certainly seems more durable and easy to maintain than its predecessor.
However, in terms of cost, this nasal CPAP mask is one of the more expensive masks on the market when compared to competitors such as the ResMed Swift FX Nano and the AirFit N10. For its current price, users may find that the Dreamwear Nasal CPAP mask (Fitpack) is a more appealable option.
Would our team buy the Eson 2 mask again? Overall, it is a yes from us. There were many aspects of the Eson 2 nasal CPAP mask that we enjoyed from a comfort and stability point of view. However, that isn’t to say that there isn’t a more suitable nasal mask out there for you.
